Over the last decade, the Procurement Function has become more “Supply Management”. The buying activity has become “Sourcing”. The term Sourcing used to be considered as identifying and qualifying potential suppliers of a company’s purchased goods and services. By adding “Strategic” to its description, its meaning was extended to identify, qualify, specify, negotiate and select suppliers for categories of similar spend.
